Competition news

EuroPro Week!

The week we have all been waiting for has arrived! We have a great home representation this year with the bookies favourites Steve Surry and Laurie Canter teeing it up, as well as our very own Luke Ayrton and Paul Morss. Hoping to follow last years success will be James Cooper and Will Brown, also top amateurs Joe Retford and Club Champion Danny Clayton. Last but definitely not least we have our very own green keeper and professional Mark Keevil.

Don’t forget the Sky Sports cameras will be here to follow the action on Friday afternoon and entry to spectators is FREE all week! Feel free to come up and watch the action first hand. Good luck to all our home players!!

EuroPro Pro’s Day – Saturday 22nd June

Immediately following the conclusion of play for the Europro, we have our EuroPro Pro’s day. New for 2019, members will play Pro’s Day on the same course set-up as the final days play. As normal, teams of four will play the red and yellow course from the back tees. Open to all members with a competition handicaps, please call us in the shop on 01225 862332 to book your teams of four in to a space. We can help pair individuals into teams. There will be plenty happening on the day, so do not miss this one!

We are currently stocking the limited edition Titleist ProV1s. The balls are the normal price and have the Open logo printed on the ball. These would make a great gift or a chance to purchase a limited edition product.

Do you fancy playing in a PGA West Region Pro-Am this year?

Assistant professional Luke Ayrton is providing you the opportunity to play in some Pro Am competitions this summer. The events on the schedule include:

Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort – Wednesday 3rd July 2019
Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Club – Friday 9th August 2019
Broadstone Golf Club – Friday 16th August 2019
Ross-On-Wye Golf Club – Thursday 29th August 2019
Minchinhampton Golf Club (New) – Friday 30th August 2019
Chippenham Golf Club - Monday 16th September 2019
Enmore Park Golf Club – Friday 20th September 2019

Teams are typically three amateurs accompanying a pro at an approximate cost of £250 per event (around £85 per person), including food, prizes and a great day to play another course in the region.

Seniors Short Game Clinic

John will be hosting a Seniors Short Game Clinic on Wednesday 26th June at 2pm. At just £10 for a 90 minute clinic, it’s a bargain and a great opportunity to improve your skills around the green and save some shots. To book, please call us on 01225 862332.

Junior Roll Up Sessions

We have now added a Sunday Junior Roll up session from 11am to 12pm. This is in addition to our Saturday sessions at 10am and 3pm. The lesson lasts for 1 hour and is priced at only £5. No experience or equipment is needed.

Wow. What a strike

How good does it feel when you strike the ball right out of the sweet spot? Pretty special, right? As much as we'd all love to, striking the centre of the clubface on every shot isn't realistic, which is why opting for some irons with added MOI could make all the difference.

What is MOI?

An iron’s actual sweet spot is no bigger than a pinhead, with anything struck outside resulting in the clubhead beginning to twist at impact – this is what is commonly referred to as MOI. The higher a club's MOI, the more stable it is through impact and therefore more resistant to twisting. So...
