Veterans’ Championship 2018 – A hole in one and incredible scores! Tuesday 21st saw the Seniors Section hold their 2018 Veterans’ (Over 70) Championship on the Yellow Orange courses. 50 players keenly contested the 3 trophies on offer and even allowing for a CSS of 67, there were some great scores. In the gross trophy, Mike Hyde, runner up last year, took the trophy with a fantastic 76 with Norman Basson (78) pipping Mike Fletcher (78) on a back 6 count back. In the nett/best stableford trophy, Pat Simpson scored an amazing 46 points (61 nett) to deservedly take the Trophy. Mike Fletcher made up for missing out on the best gross runners up spot by scoring 45 points and pushing Neil Martin into 3rd place on count back. This year for the first time players aged 76 or over competed for the new “Super Vets” trophy. Bill Paddock with 42 points took the inaugural prize keeping Dave Willmott in 2nd place. This despite Dave scoring a hole in one on the 31st! Congratulations to all who took part.
Pro’s Day 2018 – Saturday 22nd September Entries are now open for our annual Pro’s Day, teams of four will take part on the Red & Yellow course, open to ALL members. Entries are open for teams of intelligent golf or speak to us in the shop.
