Welcome to another of edition of your pro shop newsletter, bringing you all the latest news from Cumberwell Park. This week we talk waterproofs as the winter season get ever closer, share with you last weekends results and offer you the remaining Titleist clearance clubs along with plenty of other offers.

Sorry to say, it’s waterproof season!

Fully aware that it’s only the start of September and fingers crossed we still have at least a month left of decent weather, that being said, it’s this time of hear when the new autumn winter clothing hits the shops and so far we’ve had some great new products arrive!

New Nike Apparel & Shoes

Nike continue to release new colours in their clothing and shoe ranges, and we’ve had another drop of their latest fashion pieces. The range is brilliant, with full outfits from head to toe available in all sizes.

Weekend results

Titleist clearance!

Orange course bunkers – Hole 32 - Re-establishment phase

Work is close to completion on the 32nd hole. The middle of the fairway has been transformed with 3 bunkers relocated on a diagonal line across the fairway.

One of the reasons for carrying out this work was the poor drainage situation in and around the bunkers. This has now been resolved. The second reason was to improve the strategy of the hole. This means that golfers have the option of laying up on the right hand side of the fairway or taking on the risk of carrying the bunkers with the reward of an easier approach shot to the green.

The weather is currently preventing us cultivating the soil and seeding the area but the hope is that this will be completed in the next 2 weeks. The area will be left to establish and realistically will not be back in play until spring 2018. The bunkers will not be filled with sand until the grass areas are ready for play.

During this time, play will return to the main tees and we ask that all tee shots are to be played short of the newly established area. This area will be marked as ground under repair (GUR) for this period so any shots landing on the area will require a free drop to be taken at the nearest point of relief (no closer to the hole).

Members ‘Adopt a Green’ scheme

The club has put in place a simple scheme to help reduce the amount of pitch marks left unrepaired on the greens which we are hoping will see a huge reduction of pitch marks on the putting surfaces.

Each member will be allocated a hole on each of the five nines and we ask that while on ‘your’ green we would be grateful if you could repair an extra 2/3 pitch marks, paying special attention to any par 3s you may be allotted. This alone would make such a difference to the surfaces all year round.
