EuroPro Week

Our annual EuroPro week produced some record scoring for the tour and it was another brilliant event for the club. Following the terrific Par 3 competition and hole in one shootout (which produced fireworks of its own) the event got underway on Wednesday and even a little early morning rain couldn't dampen the scoring. 

Dimitrios Papadatos of Australia opened up an early lead with a brilliant 8 under, 63. Our own Steve Surry followed him with a 5 under 66, Will Brown with a 68 and our amateurs Joe Retford 70, James Cooper 69 and Jamie Li 69 all had solid opening rounds. 

The second day we saw two course records broken! Firstly, Jonathan Caldwell carded a 9 under 62, this was then followed by Sam Robertshawe who also knocked in a 62 on the second day after starting the yellow with 6 straight birdies. However it was Papadatos who maintained his lead going into the final day following his 63 with a 66. A record cut of FIVE UNDER PAR saw home pro Steve Surry make the final round on the number and amateur Jamie Li who finished the red nine in 5 under (30) to safely make the final round on 7 under. Both players would finish the tournament in 9 under par, a terrific score, but only good enough for 31st place!

We had another playoff to find a winner and this was between John Henry who shot a 64 to get to 17 under and Neil Raymond who had steady scores of 65,65 and 66, impressive stuff! 

Both players birdied the 18th and they went again, this time Raymond birdied the hole again, that was three birdies in a row for Raymond on the last and good enough for the £10,000 first prize!

9 Hole Pairs Championship Qualifier

On Tuesday 11th July Cumberwell are hosting a 9 Hole Pairs Championship Qualifier. The format is a pairs betterball 9 hole pre-qualifier for the final later in the year. The event will be held on either the red or yellow courses and will be a shotgun start at 6:00pm. 

Entry is FREE but limited to only 36 spaces, so it's on a first-come-first serve basis! There will also be a meal after for all the competitors. If you are interested please register by email to Ali James, alij@cumberwellpark.com.




Members 'Adopt A Green' Scheme

The club has put in place a simple scheme to help reduce the amount of pitch marks left unrepaired on the greens which we are hoping will see a huge reduction of pitch marks on the putting surfaces. 

Each member will be allocated a hole on each of the five nines and we ask that on 'your' green when playing we would be grateful if you could repair an extra 2/3 pitch marks paying special attention to any par 3's you may be allotted. This alone would make such a difference to the surfaces all year round. To see which greens you have been allocated, simply follow the chart below to see where your surname falls.

Summer Holiday Junior Fun Days 

We have set four dates in the Summer Holidays for kids golf coaching. Each day starts runs between 10am and 3pm and costs £27.50 including lunch and some time on the golf course in the afternoon: 

- Tuesday 8th August 
- Tuesday 15th August 
- Monday 21st August 
- Tuesday 29th August
