WOW!! WHAT A DAY FOR THE PAR 3 OPENING!
Bank holiday Monday saw the grand opening of the NEW par 3 course and it certainly didn't disappoint! In the members shotgun start, we had over 150 players take part in what was a really fun event over the exciting new holes.
The course which was conceived 6 years ago between Cumberwell Park and course designer James Edwards has some realty interesting design features with some simply stunning short holes and some brilliantly designed greens, making the course a challenge for all levels of golfer. With genderless tees, each hole can be made to play to a range of difficulties, an aim for how the course was to be designed.
Considering how new the course is, the condition was fantastic, with brilliant grass coverage over the whole course, particularly the tees and greens. The course will only continue to get better and we are all interested to see how popular the course itself proves to be.
The course is now officially open and tee times are being booked as normally through reception.
Huge congratulations to everyone involved in the design and build of the new course, Charlie James, Matt James & his team of brilliant green keepers and everyone else who played their part, it's a fantastic addition to the golf club and one that your should all be proud of.

FRIDAY MORNING LADIES ROLL-UP - starts 9th SEPTEMBER
Paul Morss runs a ladies group lesson on A Friday morning which runs between 11:15am and 12:15am. The lessons content varies each week and is aimed at high handicappers and ladies working towards a handicap. To book a space call the shop on 01225 862332. Sessions cost £10. .
WILTSHIRE RETAINS ENGLISH BOYS COUNTY FINALS AT CUMBERWELL!
After a tense 3 days of competition Wiltshire retain the English boys county finals winning by half a point over Yorkshire. 4 counties from across the country played a round robin tournament consisting of foursomes and singles matches. 2 home players played for Wiltshire, James Cooper and Joe Retford.
They both performed excellent and helped the team to their victory. Scores were all tied at the start of the final day, and it was close up until the final match. Yorkshire took the early lead winning their final match 6.5-2.5, however Wiltshire secured the win with a 5.5-3.5 win over Northamptonshire, winning on points difference over Yorkshire by half a point, due to their previous matches.
This was a great achievement for the team as they won this championship last year and retained the title. The team was coached by John Jacobs and the county would like to thank all the members for their help and support of the event.

Our ANNUAL PRO'S DAY EVENT is booked in for Saturday 17th September and the team event is always a popular one. We've already started work on the format and this year will be one of our best yet with a superb prize table, putting and short game competitions and a few fun twists!
