FootJoy Shoe Fitting Day – Saturday 24th May
We are hosting a FootJoy shoe fitting day on Saturday 24th May here at Cumberwell Park. The fitting experts will be able to specially measure your feet and provide you with the best size and fit of golf shoe that will help and support you when on the golf course.
They will have a simply HUGE selection of shoes to try to ensure that your next pair of shoes fits perfectly!!
Whether you have small feet, big feet, narrow feet, wide feet, FootJoy offer sizes from 3 – 16 and from Extra Narrow to Extra Wide. Get the perfect size!
Lisa Benham wins the Gillian Wood Trophy
Cumberwell Park member Lisa Benham won the Gillian Wood Trophy at the County Championships weekend held at Kingsdown Golf Club. She beat Tuppence Hale from Chippenham 2&1 to claim the trophy which has also meant selection for the County week in June. Well done Lisa, a great result!
Sarah Gee runner up in County Championships
Sarah Gee, who is also a member of Cumberwell (home club West Wilts), narrowly missed out on the County Championships losing just 2 down to Katie Warren. Sarah, who has some short game coaching here at Cumberwell, is off to Texas later this year for University and we wish here a successful season and a great time in the States!
Victoria Wakeley-Jones wins County Champs in Gloucester
Victoria Wakeley-Jones won the Gloucestershire County Championships at the weekend at just 15 years old! Victoria, who is a pupil of John Jacobs, won 3&1 at Henbury Golf Club. Victoria is to start Hartpury College in September so we will be seeing a lot more of her here at Cumberwell as John is their lead coach. Well done Victoria.
36 hole Cumberwell Classic attracts full field!
Saturday we hosted the 36 hole Cumberwell Classic, a demanding day with fourball betterball played in the morning and foursomes played after lunch with all four nine being covered!!... Needless to say there were a few buggy sales that day!!
Cumberwell Classic favourites Greig Sweetland & Mary Ely, defending champions and three time winners opened up with 41 points in the morning and took the morning prize but couldn’t make it a fourth win overall.
New winners pairing of Mitch Burton & Matt Pegler carded a fantastic 37 points in the afternoon foursomes, following a sold 39 points in the morning, enough for a three point win over Matt Thomas & Dave Appleyard and Luke Ayrton & James Cooper who both scored a 72 point total.
Thanks again for such a strong entry and well done to Mitch & Matt on their win!

Winter League draws to a close...
We’ve had the end of the winter and we have new Winter League Champions! Winners of the Winter League for this year were Adam Fligiel & Mike Hiskens beating Andy Higham & Jeremy Vivian.
Winners of the plate were Andy York & Kye Leather beating the father/son combination of Richard & John Newport.
EuroPro Marshals - we need you!

National Golf Month!
We have FOUR events scheduled for National Golf Month and they are all absolutely FREE !
For juniors we have two taster sessions, one for primary school age and one for secondary school. The sessions are aimed at juniors who have never played or have very little experience.
Following this, we have FREE taster sessions for adults who want to try golf for the first time open to ALL men & women!
We will provide all the equipment and balls, all you need to do is book your spot and give it a go.

New learn to play group class!
Following the National Golf Month we have evening classes starting for adult beginners or improvers! We have two classes starting in June, one on a Tuesday 10th June and one starting on Wednesday 4th June.
