A NEW YEAR AND MORE RAIN
Happy New Year to all our members, we hope you enjoyed the Christmas period and managed to get in some golf in the process. Unfortunately the golf course did not have a great time with more persistent rain falling on already very saturated ground. Unfortunately the course was forced to close for a couple of days over the weekend. It's advisable to give reception a ring on 01225 863322 to check on the course situation over the next few days, or keep an eye on the @cumberwellpark twitter page.
On a positive note, we do have a SALE on!! Forget 5am Boxing Day sales, we've gone for a traditional January Sale with most of the clothing at 20% off, special offers on balls and a half price sale rail, come in and have a look.

TROLLEY USAGE IN WINTER - ADVISORY NOTICE
All golfers at Cumberwell Park have the freedom to decide whether to use a carry bag, pull trolley or power trolley. The use of any type of trolley, in particular those fit with smooth wheels, during winter months leads to an increase in muddy conditions. The added footprint of the trolleys leads to a number of unpleasant muddy areas, particularly along heavy trafficked routes. The green staff install rope off areas and signage in an attempt to manage the wear but this is not practical in all situations.
It is widely accepted that a reduction in trolley usage would reduce the problem of muddy areas and improve playability. Trolley usage has risen significantly in the past few years as less people favour a carry bag. The club are suggesting those that are able to use a carry bag, do so through the winter months. The result of this would enable wear to be spread and avoid tracking around green edges that a trolley creates.
For those unable to use a carry bag, it is suggested "hedgehog" style wheels are used on pull trolleys or power trolleys.
