A BIG THANK YOU FROM THE PROSHOP
This is our last Newsletter for 2015 and it's time to reflect on what's been another great year for the club. Another successful EuroPro event, all sections doing great things in their respective leagues, a great year of club competition and we have a full European tour player to follow in 2016!!
From a shop perspective, we've had one of our most productive years and very proud of what we've achieved in 2015. Back in February John took on the challenge to re-design the teaching room and transformed the area into a state of the art custom fitting studio, offering more choice than we ever have in the past, with clean lines, immaculate design and really making us stand out from the competition. The custom fit and coaching studio allows us to do a better job coaching and when custom fitting.
Following on from the success of the teaching room refurb, the shop had to be next and although the Summer may not have been the ideal time to undertake such a task, we had to strike while the iron was hot and I'm sure you will all agree, it's been well worth it and extremely enjoyable to do!
With huge thanks to those who helped out, in particular club member Roger Bates, we managed to bring the shop into the 21st century, with a complete re-design and bespoke displays. White was the obvious colour to choose allowing stock to stand out and us to create a much better feeling of space. We designed an area for the hardware first and instead of using the manufacturer's displays, we designed our own with amazing corporate branding and some constancy in the design for the first time! We removed all of the old wooden displays and took the new displays right back to the wall, new carpet, new lighting and a whole new feel!
We hugely appreciate all of your positive comments on competition and it has been completely worthwhile! In addition, thanks to everyone who supported us throughout the year.
We've had a brilliant time working with the captains from each section and we know that 2016 will be just the same.
From a coaching perspective again we've had really good year and between the coaching staff here at Cumberwell have given a great amount of lessons covering grass roots golf in the junior roll-up and junior academy through to serious tournament golfers.
Our juniors have had another great year with all of them being coached here at Cumberwell. Paul Morss has had good success with James Cooper and Alex Blewett the same with Joe Retford to name just a couple of our in house success stories.
John Jacobs continues to look after the England SW Boys squad and is now the new lead coach to the Wiltshire County Boys teams with Ben Lloyd being the new Under 14's lead coach. We cover an extensive list of coaching groups here and will continue to offer the same going forward, with more members coaching clinics being an area we will expand.
As a team, we will keep learning and striving to offer the best coaching and retail experience around, a service to match the facilities offered here Cumberwell.
We are all looking forward to 2016, a new year, new challenges and of course a new golf course to look forward too!!

TROLLEY USAGE IN WINTER - ADVISORY NOTICE
All golfers at Cumberwell Park have the freedom to decide whether to use a carry bag, pull trolley or power trolley. The use of any type of trolley, in particular those fit with smooth wheels, during winter months leads to an increase in muddy conditions. The added footprint of the trolleys leads to a number of unpleasant muddy areas, particularly along heavy trafficked routes. The green staff install rope off areas and signage in an attempt to manage the wear but this is not practical in all situations.
It is widely accepted that a reduction in trolley usage would reduce the problem of muddy areas and improve playability. Trolley usage has risen significantly in the past few years as less people favour a carry bag. The club are suggesting those that are able to use a carry bag, do so through the winter months. The result of this would enable wear to be spread and avoid tracking around green edges that a trolley creates. For those unable to use a carry bag, it is suggested "hedgehog" style wheels are used on pull trolleys or power trolleys.

CHRISTMAS KIDS PARTY!! TUESDAY 22ND DECEMBER 2015
In keeping with tradition, Ben & Paul will be hosting a Christmas Party upstairs in the golf club. The party will include loads of golf games, quizzes, food and just lots of Christmas Fun!
The party will run from 11:00am until 2:30pm and will of course include party food. Priced at just £16 per child, it's open to all juniors from our academy section and anyone that comes to our Junior roll-Up's, but do feel free to bring along your friends.

CUMBERWELL QUIZ NIGHT FRIDAY 22nd JANUARY 2016
We have another one of our very popular quiz nights in the diary for Friday 22nd January. Teams of Six will take part and at just £8.00 per person including a Curry or a Lasagne, it's a great evening out!! To book your team, contact reception on 01225 862332.
RUNAWAY PERFORMANCE IN TURKEY TROT
In tough conditions we had one standout score in this years Turkey Trot sponsored by Neil Hooper of Church Farm Meats. The four man team of Ben Leach, Doug McDonald, James Cooper and Simon Mealing carded 85 Stableford points, 5 points clear of the rest of the field!
They each win a Turkey for Christmas day, a great prize! Thanks again to everyone who played, another cracking turnout!
