Dom Walter- European Champion!

Last week our very own junior member Dom Walter (aged 11, Handicap 8!) travelled to Craigielaw Golf Club in Scotland to compete in the US Kids European Championships. The 54 hole tournament was held over three days, with the lowest gross score taking the prize. Over 65 players from all over the world took part in the ‘Boys 11’ Category.

Dom led the event from start to finish, with GROSS ROUNDS OF 71, 73 and 72 to finish level par and win by three strokes. Dom managed to out-play the best players from the likes of America, France, Germany, South Africa and many more countries! This is a massive achievement for Dom and his family, and will be the first of many tournaments to his name!

Ben Lloyd made the trip to Scotland on the Wednesday of the event to watch his star pupil in action! We also think that his Dad, Jamie Walter, deserves a mention for his efforts in supporting his son and the hours of effort that goes on behinds the scenes! EuroPro – Playoff that ended in a playoff!

Last Sunday we held an 18 hole play off for one elusive spot in the EuroPro event at Cumberwell. Entry was open to attached professionals and also any low handicap amateurs who fancied there chances! 8 people played off for the spot including:

John Jacobs, Alex Blewett, Alex Pike, Louis Boston, Mark Keevil, Dan Blewett, Josh Dee and James Cooper.

The event was held on the Red and Yellow Courses from the back tees; an 18 hole shoot out!! Scoring proved tough on the day, but the eventual winners after 18 (tied on the same score) were Alex Blewett and Alex Pike! One more hole was required to separate the Cumberwell boys. The 10th was selected, having both hit the ball in the sand from the tee, Alex Blewett made an unlikely birdie to pip Mr. Pike by one shot. Unlucky to Alex Pike, but Alex Blewett has won the EuroPro Spot!

Ladies short game clinic - book now!

Head Professional John Jacobs will be hosting TWO short game clinics with former Ladies European Tour player Bev New.

The day clinic will cover short game in the morning including pitching, chipping & bunker play, lunch in the clubhouse followed by a putting clinic, all on our fantastic short game area!

The dates available are Saturday 7th June & Monday 7th July, both starting at 9:30 and finishing at 14:30 and will cost £75 per person.

Summer Knockout draws now up!

The draw sheets for the four Summer Knockouts are now up on the notice board. Please check who you have been drawn against and get matches underway as soon as possible.

New learn to play golf class! - Filling up fast!

Following the National Golf Month we have evening classes starting for adult beginners or improvers! We have two classes starting in June, one on a Tuesday 10th June and one starting on Wednesday 4th June.

Adam Jack Trophy entry list now up! - Saturday 21st June 2014

For the first time, the Adam Jack Trophy (Men's Handicap Club Championship) will be played as an individual event on its own day. The format of the event will be an 18 hole individual Strokeplay played on the Red & Yellow course from the White Tees.

There will be four categories for prizes and we encourage all players of any handicap to play as there will be some fantastic prizes and it is sure to be a full field! The entry list is in the ProShop, so please put your name down requesting either an early or late tee time.

Medallist Trophy - four medals in...
