FootJoy shoe fitting day - huge success!

Weather aside, Saturday saw us host our first FootJoy shoe fitting day and it was a huge success! The FootJoy brand executive Lewis (all the way from Scotland) fitted over 30 customers into the exact size and width shoes which would best suit.

With more choice offered than any other brand in golf and the ability to custom order different size shoes for each foot, it is a day we will definitely be looking at running again.

Massive thanks to Lewis and FootJoy, a very successful day and great service to the members.

Joe Long takes Open Championship (kind of...)

Cumberwell member and Lansdown representative Joe Long took the 2014 Cumberwell Park Junior Open. Being presented by professional John Jacobs (also Joe's coach), the 17 year old carded a fantastic 1 under par - 70 on the Red & Yellow course, good enough for a 2 shot victory over Matthew Hibbs.

We had over 50 juniors take part in what was a great event, and not spoiled by any rain for a change.

We had a couple of home victories also with young Paris Sandford winning the overall nett competition with a fantastic nett 66!

Sarah Cheverton fought of competition from Carys Parker (Kendleshire) to take home the Ladies gross championship with a fantastic gross 80, a score that takes her very very close to 9!

Ladies short game clinic - book now!

Head Professional John Jacobs will be hosting TWO short game clinics with former Ladies European Tour player Bev New.

The day clinic will cover short game in the morning including pitching, chipping & bunker play, lunch in the clubhouse followed by a putting clinic, all on our fantastic short game area!

The dates available are Saturday 7th June & Monday 7th July, both starting at 9:30 and finishing at 14:30 and will cost £75 per person.

Summer Knockout draws now up!

The draw sheets for the four Summer Knockouts are now up on the notice board. Please check who you have been drawn against and get matches underway as soon as possible.

New learn to play golf class! - Filling up fast!

Following the National Golf Month we have evening classes starting for adult beginners or improvers! We have two classes starting in June, one on a Tuesday 10th June and one starting on Wednesday 4th June.

Mike Garfield claws the Surry Cup!

On a weekend heavily affected by poor weather, we still had a pretty good entry into the Surry Cup held at the weekend. The format was 18 on either Saturday, Sunday or both, with the overall winner being the person with the best individual Stableford score.

This year we had one standout score from Mike Garfield (played on Saturday) who had 41 points, FOUR points clear of the rest of the field. Angela Hannam had the best score on the Sunday with 37 points.

Adam Jack Trophy entry list now up! - Saturday 21st June 2014

For the first time, the Adam Jack Trophy (Men's Handicap Club Championship) will be played as an individual event on its own day. The format of the event will be an 18 hole individual Strokeplay played on the Red & Yellow course from the White Tees.

There will be four categories for prizes and we encourage all players of any handicap to play as there will be some fantastic prizes and it is sure to be a full field! The entry list is in the ProShop, so please put your name down requesting either an early or late tee time.

Medallist Trophy - four medals in...
