CUMBERWELL PARK SENIORS ENJOY MARCH

Following the disruption caused by the weather over the winter months, there was relief among the seniors when things improved during March bringing a return to normality and some great golf.

As well as the success with the winter league, 72 seniors, along with support from John Jacobs, Ben Lloyd, Alex Blewett and Ali James, had their first Away Day of 2016. A new venue was chosen this year and all were set the challenges of the Codrington course at The Players Club. With 'wall-to-wall' sunshine and some excellent golf, the day proved to be very enjoyable. Despite the challenges of the course, the winning 3-Ball of Simon Mealing, Roly Colegate and Peter Palframan (with the assistance of Ali James for 3 of the holes) returned a magnificent Bowmaker points score of 94 while Paul Leather carded a splendid winning individual score of 40.

March also saw the completion of the 5-Round Eclectic competition with the Carperwil Trophy to play for. Congratulations go to Keith Ritch in winning the trophy for the third consecutive year.

THE SEASON IS UNDERWAY!!

April is here, the clocks have changed and the Medallist Trophy is now underway!! Sunday saw the first of the qualifying medals and we had a good start with 75 entries playing the Red & Yellow course. There were two standout scores with Luke Ayrton carding a gross 68, nett 66, but scoring the maximum 300 points was Gavin Bell who had an amazing score of 75, nett 62!!!!

Calling All Ladies - FREE Introductory Golf Sessions 

We are running FREE introductory Golf Sessions at Cumberwell Park for ladies. We have set two dates to learn a basic introduction to the game, rules and the etiquette. We will then progress with follow-on group sessions to gain more experience and get into golf. 

The two remaining dates are:

Tuesday, 5 April at 10:00am-12:00pm
Monday, 11 April at 12:30pm-2pm

No equipment or any experience of golf is required so bring yourself along and get ready to have fun and learn some golf.

JAMES COOPER HAS A FAST START TO THE SEASON!!

16 year old Cumberwell Park junior James Cooper has had a terrific start to the 2016 season. James, who started his season with the French Boys at Omaha Beach, carded two solid rounds and in a very string field of Top European Juniors made it through into the Matchplay finishing in 11th. James lost in the first round of the matchplay on his 19th hole, a tough match that could have went either way.

James then headed straight to Hawkstone Park for the England Boys Under 16 Spring meeting, where he finished in a superb 2nd place, turning the heads of the England selectors and getting to +1 in the process. Well done James, a great start to the year!!

JUNIOR OPEN - MONDAY 30TH MAY

The always popular Cumberwell Park Junior open is to be held on the May bank holiday on the 30th May and is open to ALL Juniors from ALL clubs who have an active handicap.

LEARN TO PLAY GOLF CLASSES

Paul has a Four Lesson Get into Golf class starting on Tuesday 26th April. The lessons will run between 6.00pm - 7.00pm

Lesson 1 - Tues 26th April
Lesson 2 - Tues 3rd May
Lesson 3 - Tues 10th May
Lesson 4 - Tues 17th May

CHINESE FOOD NIGHT - SATURDAY 16TH APRIL 2016

Following the success of our Indian Food night, the club have arranged a Chine Food Night to be held on Saturday 16th April from 7:30pm. Priced at ONLY £12 per person and a huge selection of Chinese dishes on offer, it's sure to be another popular evening.

The team from Nike came down last week and we had a great turnout of people looking to try the new range of Nike Golf equipment with a lot of success and some great club fitting.
