Club Championship news for 2014
Your chance to become a divisional Nett or Gross Champion!
This year’s Club Championship and Handicap Championship (The Adam Jack Trophy) will be split into 2 separate competitions.
The Handicap Championship (Adam Jack Trophy) will be played on Saturday 20th June 2014 over 18 holes from the white tees. The entry fee will be £10 per person and the winner of the trophy will be the person with the best net score over 18 holes. There will be prizes for the overall top 3 players as well a prize for the top 3 players in each handicap division. (0-5, 6-12, 13-20, 21-28)
Entry sheet will be in the ProShop to sign up and tee times will be drawn totally at random.
The Club Championship Trophy is still similar to all previous years and will be played on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th August 2014 over 36 holes (18 holes each day). The entry fee will be £10 per person and there will be an overall gross champion and a divisional gross champion for each handicap division (0-5, 6-12, 13-20, 21-28) – so even if you have a high handicap you can still become the club champion for your handicap division.

Bubba knows how to get it square!
As you are aware Bubba Watson has a slightly unorthodox golf swing, but it obviously works for him. There are two major factors that determine ball flight, where the clubhead is pointing and the direction it is travelling in at impact, formally know as the swing path and face aim. Although Bubba’s swing has more planes than Heathrow, at the moment of impact his clubface position is as orthodox as Adam Scott. Bubba has complete control of his clubface throughout the entire swing, and more importantly at impact. So the moral of the story, everyone that now comes for a lesson will be taught to swing the club exactly the same as Bubba, with both feet off the ground at impact!!
Just joking of course! However this does prove a point to all golfers, as long as the clubface is square at impact, within reason, it doesn’t really matter what the rest of the swing looks like. All golfers have different techniques and swing styles, and with regular coaching you can quickly learn how changes to your swing will affect your swing path and clubface aim.
We have recently invested in the best ball flight and swing analysis system, here at Cumberwell, that’s used by the top players in the world. This enables us to give you the true and factual information needed to find the quickest and easiest route to controlling your ball flight – a must in good scoring!

Pikey's Picks
So we had just the one place with Rickie Fowler finishing in the Top 5 at the weekend, unfortunately the others didn't come through for me.
We had a near miss with Freddie Couples rolling back the years with another amazing performance at Augusta.
This year there was a lot of unlikely places, with some rookie players putting in impressive performances on a course that demands a certain amount of experience or 'local knowledge!' Hats off to Jordan Spieth and Jonas Blixt and of course the great Miguel Angel Jimenez!
Pikey's Picks will be back next week!
